Crowns & Bridges

What are dental bridges & crowns? How will my Colorado Springs dentist restore my teeth? These are just a few questions answered on this dental blog.

Crowns & Bridges

dental crownOne question that we get a lot at our Colorado Springs dentist's office is how to care for a new porcelain crown. What a lot of our patients don't realize is that while a porcelain crown is durable and not subject to decay the way an organic tooth is, decay can still occur under the crown.  This can turn into a very costly fix for any patient having a crown replaced which is exactly why aftercare is so important.

What happens when decay is found under a porcelain crown? The short answer is: it will need to be replaced.

That's why it's important to treat your new crown as you would your original tooth.  If you suspect your crown already has decay, contact your local Colorado Springs dentist to schedule an exam.  Here's a little more information on porcelain crowns, care, and the danger of decay.
